Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!
Dear Parents and Carers,
A very warm welcome to our Year 4 class page!
My name is Mrs Johnson, and I will be your child’s class teacher this year. I’m really excited about the year ahead and look forward to working closely with both you and your children as we begin what I’m sure will be a rewarding and enjoyable journey.
In Year 4, my goal is to inspire a genuine enthusiasm for learning within a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where every child can flourish. We have an exciting year planned, full of new opportunities and challenges to help the children grow in confidence and skills.
To make the most of the year, there are a few important expectations where your support will be greatly valued:
Year 4 Expectations
Uniform: Please ensure your child comes to school in the correct uniform and school shoes each day. Trainers are only permitted on PE days.
Water Bottles: Children should bring a named water bottle each day. These should be taken home daily to be cleaned and refilled.
Labelling Belongings: All clothing and personal items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. This helps us to return any misplaced items quickly.
Reading: Children are expected to read at least three times per week at home. Reading diaries must be brought to school daily and signed by an adult each time your child reads.
Spelling: A spelling list will go home every Monday. Please support your child to practise these at home in preparation for their test on Friday.
Homework: Homework is given out each Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. This may be in paper form or set online via Times Tables Rockstars or Power Maths (Active Learn).
Times Tables: Fluency in multiplication and times tables will support your child’s progress across the curriculum. Any extra practice at home is greatly appreciated.
PE Days for Year 4
4MJ have PE on Thursdays.
Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on their PE day.
We believe that a strong home-school partnership is essential for your child’s success. Working together, we can make a real and lasting impact on their learning, confidence and wellbeing.
Thank you for your continued support – we’re looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with your children!
Warm regards,
Mrs Johnson
