English
This year we have introduced a new English scheme to the whole school to further develop writing skills across the school. The scheme is based around missions for the children!
Look at all the Writing!
We have now embarked on our next journey: Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.
Balanced Arguments - 'Should Michael and his family sail around the world or not?'
All at Sea! We used images, music, moving images and role play to develop our creative writing.

Amazing Progress
Guilty or Innocent?
To bring our mission to an end, we set up a mock trial. The allegation: the destruction of Humpty Dumpty. The defendant: The King of Far Away Land.
The evidence was gathered, the barristers had time to prepare. What an enjoyable event. After hearing all the evidence, the jury acquitted the king!
We revisited fairy tales. “ One day you will be old enough to read fairy tales again.” C.S. Lewis
Story Telling January 2022
Presenting Evidence
Year 6 have been busy analysing witness statements in order to gather evidence!
Remembering How Story Time Used To Be! January 2022
This half term, our mission is to prove Goldilocks’ innocence against a crime she didn't commit. Can the Writing Agents help her granddaughter prove her innocence?
Sharing Our Work
Role Play to Understand Empathy
Our first mission is about vanishing iconic landmarks around the world! This mission has involved: analysing texts, writing incident reports, letters and newspaper articles! We spend quality time looking at the features of the different genres (text types) in order to understand how to use these features correctly in our independent writing/weekly ‘Big Write’.
