LI: To learn the importance of including detailed descriptions in writing.

Today we will learn about the importance of using detailed description so that we are able to paint a picture for the reader and to create atmosphere and mood.

Success Criteria

• Identify powerful verbs (a verb is a word used to describe an action, state or occurrence. Verbs can be used to describe an action ( doing something e.g. like the word ‘jumping’ in this sentence)
• Identify interesting adjectives (adjectives are words used to describe and give more information about a noun, which could be a person, place or object). 
• Identify expanded noun phrases (expanded noun phrases are made up of one noun and at least one adjective. If more than one adjective is used to describe the noun, they are usually separated by a comma).
