This week our focus will be on ...
Y3 - Understanding place-value in 3-digit numbers; separate 3-digit numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones; add two 3-digit numbers using vertical written addition (expanded); add 2- and 3- digit numbers using vertical written addition (expanded)
Y2 (Group A)- Adding and subtracting 1-digit numbers to and from 2-digit numbers; subtracting 2-digit numbers by counting back in tens and ones; adding two 2-digit numbers by counting in 10s, then adding 1s; add 2-digit numbers using 10p and 1p coins (partitioning, answers less than 100); adding 2-digit numbers using place-value cards (partitioning, answers more than 100)
Y2 (Group B)- Estimating and counting a number of objects up to 100; locating numbers on 0−100 beaded lines and 1−100 squares; comparing pairs of numbers and finding a number in between; ordering three numbers, ordering 2-digit numbers
Please note: it is crucial that all children are confident in their times tables, please ensure your child is continuing to practice their tables using Times Tables Rock Stars.
Thursday 7th January
This maths work can be found when your child logs into active learn and then onto abacus using their password.
Year 3 - To begin to add 3-digit numbers using expanded column method.
Please use the success criteria sheet - 'How to solve column addition' and watch the video clip again before completing as many questions as you can.
Y2 (Group A) - Add/subtract 2-digit numbers to/from 2-digit numbers by counting on/back
Use the 100 Square to support addition if necessary.
Wednesday 6th January
This maths work can be found when your child logs into active learn and then onto abacus using their password.
Year 3 - To begin to add 3-digit numbers using expanded column method.
Please watch the video clip again and then complete as many (supported or unsupported) questions as you can.
Tuesday 5th January
Your child will be sent the relevant work according to the group that they are working in. Year 3, Year 2 (Group A) OR Year 2 (Group B).
They only need to complete the work that is for their group.
