Parent Information
Here you will find general reminders and information.
November
Scripts have now been sent home for our Christmas production. Please sign the script to confirm your child will be returned to school on December 16th for the evening performance. As you will know, the year 5/6 production is quite an event and a lot of time and energy by all goes into making it a success - so we do appreciate your support at such a busy time of the year.
Homework
Autumn Term homework is due December 13th at the latest. The homework can be found on the homework page and all children have been given a paper copy. Please check the work handed in reflects the expectations for Year 6.
Reading is also part of the weekly school expectations. Thank you for writing comments - we hear all children read as part of guided reading but with your help and comments we can, together, identify any gaps in reading ability and understanding and can quickly and effectively close those gaps so your child can achieve the expected standard for Year 6. The Year 6 reading comprehension tests focus heavily on understanding language therefore it is vital the children discuss their books at home.
Secondary School Applications.
These need to be completed by the end of October. It is vital you apply for your child’s secondary school place in order to obtain a school of your choice.
School start and end times for Year 6.
School starts at 8:45. It is vital to your child to arrive at school on time. The day ends at 3:10.
Reading book and diary.
Reading books and diaries are expected in school each day. Year 6 are expected to read at home and have three comments in their diary. These can relate to any reading at home, including Bug Club, and relate to areas to develop in Year 6: inference and deduction, author’s use of language, understanding of vocabulary and the ability to read with fluency and accuracy.
Uniform.
Black school shoes are expected at Marsh Green.
