Science all around us!
This week, Year 6 will be investigating aspects of biology, physics and chemistry.
On Monday, we focused on biology by looking at plants. We delved into the process of plant reproduction and looked closer at the parts of a flower with tulip dissection. Can you name the parts of a tulip?
The Periodic Table of Elements
On Tuesday we explored the periodic table of elements. We looked at various different elements and their properties.
We also researched Dmitri Mendeleev and Henry Moseley. They were key scientists in the design of the periodic table.
On Wednesday, we investigated the forces associated with a parachute 🪂
What forces can you think of.
We tested different sizes of plastic bag to make our own parachutes. The was to safely land an egg!!!

On Thursday we became engineers. We looked at the history of bridges and learned about the different types of bridges. We used our knowledge of three ( Beam,Truss and Suspension) to design our own bridges using pasta and marshmallows! We worked well as teams and evaluated our process!
