National Story Telling Week 28th January-5th February 2023
Mission One - Planning a day out!
Agent Penny has set us on an important mission to help Kamran and his daughter Avani. Kamran and Avani live in America and are coming to England but they have never been before. Our mission is to give them some ideas of where to visit once they arrive! We will do this through writing detailed descriptions of attractions and letters.
22.12.22 Letters to Santa!
Paula the Vet by Julia Donaldson
We often use role play, drama and small group discussions to deepen our understanding of books. Today we dressed up as a vet in order to empathise with the main character of the book- Paula.
As a result the children were able to answer a variety of comprehension questions because they were dressed up, “in role” and were able to empathise with the characters emotions.
The theme was Castles, Knights and Princesses. We used drama, dance and singing as we went on a thrilling adventure to rescue the Sword in the Stone!
Our core text this term is “Katie in London” by James Mayhew
28.9.22 Today we wrote letters to Katie 📮
Using improvisation to act out a scene from our core text... 🎭🤩
Cold task activity:
During our English lesson we wrote a story introduction about the keys we found in the playground independently.
What happens at the end of the story?
Today Year 2 used role play to make predictions about how “Katie in London” ends. We worked in small mixed ability groups and performed our predictions to the whole class.
