Welcome to Year 2

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very warm welcome to Year 2’s Class Page. 
 

This year is going to be a busy and exciting year for your child and we hope them, and you, are looking forward to the things we have planned.  Our main priority is to allow the children to thrive and enjoy their learning in a safe and encouraging environment.

Year 2 expectations:

• We ask that your child is dressed appropriately dressed for school, with the correct school uniform, and wearing school shoes – not trainers! Trainers are only permitted for Year 2 P.E. days.
• Your child needs to bring in a named water bottle. All water bottles should be going home to be cleaned, refilled at home and brought back into school everyday. 
• Label your child’s uniform and belongings with with their name and class. (In the event of their uniform becoming lost or misplaced, it will help us to get it back to them as quickly as possible).

• All children must read at least three times each week and each parent comment written must be signed.

• Reading books and diaries must be brought to school every day.

• Children will bring home a spelling list every Monday and will be tested on a Thursday. 

• Any work you can do with your children to help improve and develop their recall of times tables and multiplication facts will be a very valuable skill for your children.  
   

Please also note, Year 2 have PE on Thursdays so children will need to come to school dressed in their activity clothes.

We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.
