Africa

This half term we will be looking at the continent of Africa; this also links with the history topic we studied in the first half term as well as our art and DT units - please take a look at those pages too to see our work!

Atlantic Slave Trade 

This half term we will be looking at the Atlantic Slave Trade.   We will be considering the significance of sources - primary and secondary, the triangular trade route, the conditions enslaved people endured during the “middle passage”, the life of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad and finally begin to understand about modern day slavery.  

To gain a better understanding of what Africa was like in the past we looked at the Kingdoms of Benin, Mali and reminded ourselves about the Ancient Egyptians .

We have learned so much about Africa and the Atlantic Slave Trade.

We carried out our own research on Harriet Tubman for our homework. Did you know she was known as “Moses”?
