Learning Challenge
The water cycle
Today we learnt about the water cycle and it’s major functions. To put our learning to the test we conducted an evaporation test by making our own puddles in the playground. We drew chalk around the puddle to measure it’s diameter and to see if the water had evaporated.
Temperature
In science we conducted an experiment into taking the temperature of things around our classroom. We have been learning how matter is able to change state when it is heated and cooled.
Music
In music we have been learning how to play the Ukulele. We have been learning about the different parts of the instrument and how they work together to create music.
Gases
In science we have been learning about states of matter. We have been identifying the properties of solids, liquids and gases. To put our learning to the test, we created carbon dioxide gas by combining bicarbonate of soda with vinegar.
The human body
This term, we have been looking at the human body. In class we studied how bones and muscles help us to function throughout the day. We made skeleton puppets to develop our understanding of the body’s skeletal system.
Philosophical question
We had a debate in order to gain an understanding of philosophical questions. Our question was ‘could the Iron Man and humankind co-exist?’.
Vincent Van Gogh
We have looked at the work of Vincent Van Gogh. We practiced painting in his unique style with acrylic paint and remastered the ‘starry night’.
Sound
We have been learning about how vibrations travel through the air and how we hear them as sound. To put our learning to the test we made string phones.
