We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very warm welcome to Year 1’s Class Page. 

Our main priority is to allow the children to thrive and enjoy their learning in a safe and encouraging environment.

Year 1 Expectations:

• Every child must come in to school wearing the correct uniform, and school shoes – not trainers! Trainers are only permitted for Year 1 on our P.E. day.
• Everyday, your child needs to bring in a named water bottle. All water bottles should be going home to be cleaned, refilled and brought back into school the next day. 
• Please label your child’s uniform and belongings with their name and class. (In the event of their uniform becoming lost or misplaced, it will help us to get it back to them as quickly as possible).
• Please read with your child at least three times a week and write a comment in their reading diary. Reading books and diaries must be brought to school every day.
• Children will bring home a spelling list every Monday and will be tested on a Friday. 
• Usually, Year 1 have a  Phonic Screening test in June. There are many free games they can play on the following website www.phonicsplay.co.uk and if you have a tablet device or smartphone, there are also many phonic apps available to making phonic learning fun.

Please also note, Year 1 have PE on Friday’s so children will need to come to school dressed in their activity clothes.
