Key National Information

Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 is statutory government guidance that schools and colleges in England must have regard to, when carrying out their duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Part One of this document (information for all school staff) can be found here.

Working Together to Improve School Attendance 2024 is government guidance to support schools, governing bodies and local authorities to maintain high levels of attendance.

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 is statutory government guidance which describes how practitioners working with children, young people and families should work together in order to ensure that children and young people remain safe from harm. In May 2025, the Government published a set of supporting resources to accompany the guidance, including a child-friendly illustrated guide created specifically for children, young people and their families. This age-appropriate guide breaks down complex safeguarding information into relatable content and can be found here.

Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006 is statutory government guidance on the application of the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009 and related obligations under the Childcare Act 2006 in schools.
