Transitions for children with SEND can be difficult and we value the importance of working together to ensure smooth transitions.

If your child is joining us from another school:

• Please let us know on your admissions form if your child was identified as SEND at their previous school.
• The SENDCo will meet with you before your child starts to ensure the appropriate support is in place.
• We will make contact with your child’s previous school in order to discuss their needs and the provision which was made for them.
• Your child will be able to visit our school and stay for a taster session, if this is appropriate.

If your child is moving to another school:

• We will contact the school SENDCo and ensure he/she knows about any special arrangements or support that need to be made for your child. 
• We will make sure that all records about your child are passed on as soon as possible.

When moving classes in school:

• During the Summer Term, your child will have an opportunity to meet their new class teacher’. 
• Individual transition plans will be implemented for children who may need a longer transition.
• At the close of each school year handover meetings are held between class teachers.
